Hello few and dedicated readers!
This is a short unscheduled post to announce that it’s finally happened.
A magazine has accepted my submission!
It’s been my short-term goal this whole year to get a short story published. I’ve spent hours researching magazines, polishing cover letters, and checking my junk folder obsessively. While I have several short stories that are finished and have been submitted wherever I can like seeds on the wind, I’ve been deeply honored by the editors of Dark Harbor Magazine. One of my more recently completed stories, No One Ever Sees Me, has been accepted for publication at Dark Harbor. The summary:
A family Halloween game in a rotting barn turns chilling.
This story was written in the style of some of Stephen King’s shorter bites: like a story told on porch rockers in the evening over cold beers. It was inspired by a true creepy story told to me by a friend and real-life ninja, Dusty.
As of writing this post, Dark Harbor’s new website domain has not yet been launched, and will be going live on August 13th. Thus, I cannot link to previous issues for you to peruse while you surely anxiously await my publication, but I will be editing this post when the time comes with a nice embed with pretty colors for you.
You should sign up for their newsletter, though, an action currently possible here: https://www.darkharbormagazine.com/
Every aspiring writer remembers their very first “yes”. I’m amazed, honored, and incredibly excited that I’ve gotten mine. And now both me and Saige can officially say we’re published writers!
