Dropping by unscheduled to do a virtual happy dance because Tumbleweird’s Volume 10 Issue 9 is out.

And I’m in it!!!!

This is my very first time being published, and in print too!

Not only was Sara Quinn, Tumbleweird editor, incredibly nice and helpful, but also so willing to work with me. The copyeditors at Tumbleweird are also incredibly talented, and they absolutely brought out the best in my story. I feel like I’ve gotten very lucky with my first experience, not only to have the process be so smooth and exciting, but to be published in my own city’s local indie paper!

Not only did they publish my story in print, but they gave my story to the very talented Rich Palmer to narrate in an audio version! It was a wild experience to hear another person reading my words as if they’re like, a real story or something! And Rich Palmer really did an amazing job, I highly recommend listening as you read.

The story that has been published is Sophie, a story inspired by a nightmare I had this past winter, which went through several pretty different drafts before it was translated into an eerie and gory story about grief and the desperate desire to wake up and have everything be okay again. Here’s the synopsis from our Current Projects page:

After Ben’s wife and four-year-old daughter, Sophie, die unexpectedly in a car accident, Ben awakens to find his daughter alive and well, deciding that the tragedy had been a dream. But Sophie seems off from her normal self.

If you’re a Tri-Citian and you not only would like to read my story but support Tumbleweird, here is a list of places in the Tri-Cities that carry the physical printing of Tumbleweird (shortcut: grab it from Adventures Underground and buy a bunch of books since you’re there already).

If you’re not local, the magazine is available online!

Consider becoming a Patron for the mag, and you can get the PDF of the whole issue!

Thank you again to Sara Quinn and everyone at Tumbleweird for helping me to get my words in front of people, and thanks to my dad, who sees all my manuscripts before they’re submitted and always gives fantastic feedback, whether it’s sentence structure, awkward phrases, continuity, or anything in between.

And thank you to you, my few but loyal readers. Just the fact that you’re here, reading these words right now, means a lot to me!

Stay tuned for a mini update in a few weeks when my second publication goes live in the online mag Dark Harbor!
